Buddy Troops

FAQs for Buddy Troops

What do I do if I cannot find enough adults to fulfill all the adult requirements to come to camp?

Buddy Up with another troop that is coming to camp.

Can I buddy up with another troop who is Camping Certified and/or has a First Aider?

Yes! You will need to know both troop numbers when you register for Camporee. If you choose to have a buddy troop adult be your camping certified adult, get your buddy troop’s Camping person to give you some tips and tricks about bringing your girls to camp. Make sure your girls and everyone in your troop knows who your camping person and your First Aider are and where to find them once you get to Camp.

Can I buddy up with another troop to make my adult/girl ratio work out?

Yes! You will need to know both troop numbers when you register for Camporee. Let all the adults in both troops know that they are agreeing to be responsible for all the girls in both troops. Make sure all the adults in both troops have access to the health forms and permission slips for both troops. If there is an emergency involving one of your adults, we are expecting the adults in buddy troops to take care of logistics and emotional needs for all the girls in both troops.

How do I find a buddy troop?
Since you will be working closely with your buddy troop, it is best if this is someone you already know. Often buddy troops come from the same school. If you can’t find a troop to buddy up with, you can reach out to the service unit and ask for a buddy (membership@gsofmv.org). Often there are troops who want to bring an extra adult or are happy to share their resources. If all else fails, let us know and we will help you.
